Father Duncan Dalais
Born in Durban in South Africa, he was involved in his local church from an early age. After his national service in the army he spent a further two years as a student with the Missions to Seamen in Southampton. On his return to South Africa he studied theology at St Paul’s Theological College in Grahamstown (South Africa). He was ordained to the Diaconate in December 1983 and to the priesthood in December 1984. He served a curacy at St John the Baptist, Pinetown (South Africa) for 4 years after which he came to England in 1987 and spent 6 months as chaplain to the Missions to Seamen before serving a second curacy at St Peter & St Paul, Chingford. In 1992 he was inducted vicar of St Gabriel, Aldersbrook and in 2002 became half time priest-in-charge of St Andrew’s and half time Hospital Chaplain at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
