Welcome to the website of St Andrew’s, Leytonstone, an inclusive and welcoming Church of England community in East London.

Since 1887, St. Andrew’s has stood as a beacon of God’s light and love in East London.

As a Church in the liberal Anglo-Catholic tradition we pride ourselves on being generously orthodox and seek to give all a warm welcome to the Body of Christ, irrespective of race, age, gender, physical ability, way of life or sexual orientation.

We rejoice in the great and wonderful diversity of God’s creation and we recognize and celebrate the beauty of his image uniquely revealed in one another. Each day, we strive to live out in our lives the words of the prayer attributed to St. Francis:

May God bless us with discomfort
At easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships
So that we may live from deep within our hearts.

May God bless us with anger
At injustice, oppression, and exploitation of God’s creations
So that we may work for justice, freedom, and peace.

May God bless us with tears
To shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger, and war,
So that we may reach out our hands to comfort them and
To turn their pain into joy.

And may God bless us with just enough foolishness
To believe that we can make a difference in the world,
So that we can do what others claim cannot be done:
To bring justice and kindness to all.

On this website you will find details of our services and activities, our values and our vision, and we very much look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful Church and our open and hospitable community in person.
